Balancing act …

Strategy is the art of making use of time and space. Space we can recover, lost time never. (Napoleon Bonaparte)

We all set goals, at work and at home, and usually have some strategies to get us there. But it is easy to get so absorbed in the process that we forget why we are doing it. You could be wasting time on a strategy that is out of date!

  • Raise your head from the numbers - remind yourself what you are trying to achieve.
  • Have the goal posts shifted? Are there new opportunities out there?
  • Is the “space” you are working towards still the right one?
  • Are you pleased with the way you have spent your time on this?

Would a tactical loss of territory be an option? Napoleon seems to think so, although, of course, history did not prove him to be a long term success …

Kathy spent last week in a cottage in Killarney, and it was terrific.
